The Guest Room
Home at Hotel At Six
Checking into at Hotel At Six for a brief yet indulgent 24-hour escape, journalist Wilma Hall captured the weekend getaway through her signature stylistic lens offering an insider’s glimpse into the guest experience. From sumptuous moments in the suite, to the intricate design details that elevated the stay, Wilma takes us behind closed doors, sharing her take on the city staycation that found the perfect balance between chic escapism and effortless charm.
Arriving at Hotel At Six felt like stepping into a sun-drenched dream. And, while a brief but welcome getaway, it became our home for the 24 hours we were there. Exuding an elusive ‘hello sunshine’ ambiance that filled every corner, Jonatan and I comfortably settled in. The vibe? Pure weekend escapism.
We initially got ready for dinner, allowing us to ease into the comfort and functionality of the suite. The spacious bathroom became our first hangout — where testing the shower was practically a rite of passage! Then it was time for plush robes and snapshots, leaving us feeling very "Suite Life of Wilma and Jonatan," and channelling our inner hotel personas like Zach and Cody.
"Once we were ready for the evening, I couldn’t resist taking my favourite top for a spin. A bit of glam, a bit of sass, and — voilà — I was ready to channel my inner diva."
Following a wonderful evening and dinner, we woke up the next morning cocooned within the fluffiest bed imaginable. Sunlight streamed through the windows as we enjoyed a lazy start to the day, surrounded by the cozy, gentle mess of a weekend well spent. Basking in the first rays of morning light, we felt completely recharged.
Overall, the bedroom felt exclusive and refined while giving me a sense of serenity. With the natural light bouncing off the large mirror running along the wall to the little round lamp that added a cosy light elevating the atmosphere within, the space perfectly transitioned between day and night making the most of its surrounding environment. The flexibility and practicality of the lighting system also enabled us to change the ambience from the comfort of our bed, giving us the option to wake up softly. The green stone countertop was another design highlight for me, bringing a chic touch to the room while complimenting the dark green curtains and green velvet sofa — a lovely comfortable addition that encouraged us to hang out in the room and socialise. It was a stay that was nothing short of transformative!
