Meet the makers: Benchmark

Working closely with British furniture makers Benchmark, we crafted a suite of bespoke timber joinery elements for Norton Folgate to bring warmth, consistency and longevity. Engaged from the outset, Benchmark’s involvement helped embed circular design principles at every stage. Crafted from American red oak—chosen for its renewability, rich grain and minimal carbon footprint—the pieces were designed to be demountable, repairable and long-lasting.

Regular visits to Benchmark’s workshop in Hungerford shaped the design process, allowing us to engage directly with their expert craftspeople whose sensitivity to material and detail ensured a refined, enduring finish. The result is a collection of elements that not only meet the functional demands of a workplace, but also speak to a deeper commitment to sustainability, tactility and the art of making.
