A hair salon, spa, photography studio and gallery within a contemporary warehouse space in one of London’s newest creative districts
Radio established its reputation as an East London destination with confident, forward-thinking hairdressing. The King’s Cross salon provides a natural new home in London’s latest creative quarter, a 67-acre development.
A former disused industrial railway site, the raw, industrialised history of King’s Cross and its loft warehouse spaces served as inspiration for the space. We sought out local craftsmen skilled in joinery and metalwork to fabricate key detail pieces that bring a ‘lifestyle’ element – an eclectic mix that celebrates the Radio brand and feels knitted into the area.
Hair remains the mainstay of the business, consolidated through an on-going relationship with Redken, for whom it becomes their flagship salon. But Radio has expanded into beauty and spa treatments, with a particular emphasis on massages, relaxation and detoxification, for which we created a bespoke area. Emphasising its creative connections, the salon also doubles up as a gallery and event spaces, with on-going events, and a photography studio provides a creative space for budding stylists.
